IAPR: We recognize the contribution of Customs, We celebrate World Customs Day
This year, as every year on January 26, we celebrate World Customs Day. This day was established by the World Customs Organization (WCO) to commemorate its inaugural session, January 26, 1953, and pays tribute to customs officials for their work.
WCO's main message for 2025:
"Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity".
With this message as a guide, the Customs Administrations - Members of the Organization, are working consistently to improve:
- Efficiency of our Services, through the digitalization of customs procedures, the adoption of new technologies, the use of non-invasive means of prosecution and modern control equipment, improved operational procedures and synergies with economic operators,
- Security in the supply chain, tackling the trafficking of illegal goods, combating money laundering and enhancing preparedness for crisis management,
- Prosperity, by promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, securing revenue, promoting sustainable economic growth, developing inclusive policies.
On World Customs Day, the IAPR Governor, Giorgos Pitsilis, stated: "In an environment of ever-changing challenges, this day reminds us of the contribution and role of Customs in the global economy and our continued commitment and dedication to facilitating and protecting legitimate trade, both in Greece and internationally."
