Brief Resume
Dr. Nikolaos Mylonas is Emeritus Professor of Finance at the Department of Business and Organizational Management of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds an MBA from Baruch College and a PhD from the City University of New York. In addition to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, he has taught finance courses at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Baruch College and ALBA.
Mr. Mylonas' research focuses on issues of money and capital markets, derivative products and energy markets giving particular emphasis on the issues of institutional investment. His numerous articles have been published in prestigious international academic journals including the Journal of Finance. He has written 5 books while one of them "Markets and Derivatives Products" is a point of reference in the academic and professional field. He has published in professional journals and has written in the financial press on current issues while regularly participating in international academic and professional conferences.
Over the years, he has undertaken administrative responsibilities and initiatives in both the academic and business sectors. In the academic field, he has served as the Deputy Rector for Economic Affairs of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for five years, served for two years as the President of the Department of Business and Organizational Management, directed the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Center of EKPA for three years, served as Director of the Department of Economics and Business Administration-Finance and Director of the Investment Applications Lab that he has created in 2007. He has developed and managed graduate-level programs for business executives in various large companies and banks as well as programs in the field of entrepreneurship and start-ups while he was one of the five professors who started the operation of ALBA in 1992 and shaped its curricula.
In the business sector, he has worked as an Investment Manager for an institutional investor, he is a certified Investment Manager (c) from the Capital Market Commission, he was the Chairman of investment committees in mutual fund companies, he has served as a consultant to banks, institutional investors and brokerage firms, as a member of the Board of Directors of companies, among which Emporiki Bank and the company Hellenic Stock Exchange-Athens Exchange as a non-executive member and also as the President of the Audit Committee. He has also served for a decade as a member of the Board of Directors at the Eugenide Hospital, as a CEO for a decade at the public limited company Tsagaris Hospital of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of an energy company.
