Brief Resume
Dr. Emilios Galariotis is a Research Chair and full Professor of Finance at KIMEP University, Bang College of Business of Kazakhstan. Prior to serving in his present position, he was full professor of finance at Audencia Business School in France and Associate Dean for Research. He has also served as director of a research laboratory, he was the founder and director of the Institute of Finance, and the founder and director of the Center for Financial and Risk Management (CFRM), and Chairman of the Department of Finance and Head of the relevant Research Axis. Before that Dr. Galariotis was an assistant professor and director of the MSc graduate programs at Durham University Business School in the UK. In parallel, as well as before that he has had entrepreneurial activity, he has also worked in various positions in the market, such as in the banking sector, for a short time, and as a portfolio consultant.
He studied Political Sciences and International Relations at Panteion University. He then studied for a diploma in Business Economics and after that he obtained with distinction a Master’s Degree in Money Banking and Finance in London. He also obtained a PhD in financial economics from the University of Durham in the UK and his "Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches Sciences Economiques" (HDR) from the University of Nantes in France.
He is a member of the management board of scientific societies such as the Financial Engineering and Banking Society, a founding member of the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics (local affiliate of the IAEE) and participates in its board of directors. He has been president of the French Association of Finance (Affi) and participates in the management board as well.
His research focuses on behavioral finance and efficiency (of markets mainly, but also of local governments, administration, energy policy, etc.), as well as on social and green finance (e.g. financial illiteracy, poverty, economic vulnerability, energy transition , ESG criteria, etc.).His work has been published in books/book chapters, encyclopedias and 83 articles and in journals such as: British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial stability, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organisation, European Journal of Finance, Economics Letters, The Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Small Business Economics, Journal of Development Studies, etc.
